The Beatles Top Three Albums

The Beatles recorded 13 studio LPs during their career from 1963's Please Please Me to 1970's Let It Be (recorded in 1969.) That total of 13 includes Magical Mystery Tour and Yellow Submarine although it's debatable whether they should be considered actual albums or not.

I first cut my choices from those 13 down to 6. Which means I had to cut out seven choices. Please Please Me was their first album and it's an interesting piece of rock history but it's nowhere near their top three albums so I knew I could cut it. With The Beatles & Beatles For Sale were both easy cuts. Help! & A Hard Day's Night were a little harder to cut as I think they both have some great moments and they are great examples of their early music. Yellow Submarine was another easy cut as it only contained four new songs. Let It Be was possibly the toughest cut. Although it's definitely flawed, I do think it's an underrated album.

Next I had to drop 3 more albums to bring me to my final tally of the three greatest Beatles albums. I dropped Abbey Road because as great as it is it's almost too "clean" or "perfect" in some way. It doesn't have quite the feeling of unbridled creativity and imagination that the three albums I selected have. I dropped Magical Mystery Tour because it's not as consistent and it doesn't include as many new songs (some of it's best songs were previously released.) I left off Rubber Soul mainly because of "What Goes On" and I'm only slightly joking.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - People often claim that this album is somehow "overrated" and I suppose I can see that view point as far as the way the mass media seems to give it much more attention than The White Album and Revolver (the other two albums in my top three) but that doesn't make it any less great. I think people often unnecessarily dismiss this album because of it's legendary stature. When you listen to it with an opened mind you can hear exactly what makes it such a landmark album. Even to this day I think few albums have made a more complete artistic statement than this one does, and while some say that it's an album which seems contrived, I don't think that's the case. To me it actually sounds amazingly "easy" considering it's complexity.

Revolver - Fourteen amazing songs. No it doesn't have the cohesiveness of Abbey Road or Sgt. Pepper. It doesn't have the sprawling genius of The White Album. But what it does have is four just absolutely incredible songs. One could make a very strong argument that this is the very best collection of songs The Beatles ever recorded. They were just overflowing with genius at this time and it was coming out in so many new and exciting ways. Who had ever heard anything like "Tomorrow Never Knows" in 1966? No one.

The White Album - If I have to choose just one Beatles album, it's this one. And that's not just so I get 30 songs instead of 13 or 14! Although that must have quite a bit to do with it. I think perhaps if the first LP of this double album was it's own album it'd still be my favorite album. The second LP isn't quite as great to me but it has some really great moments too. And it's really the whole sprawling masterpiece that I love. It's just such an endlessly enjoyable album. I never grow tired of it.

Great arguments can be made for including some of the other Beatles albums instead of the ones I've chosen. Hell I once went through a period where I was convinced Abbey Road was their best album. That's part of what makes The Beatles so astonishingly great. This isn't an easy question with them like it is for most bands. - 21704

As fate would have it, when he checks into the resort hotel, the first thing he sees is Sarah and her new boyfriend, who is a mega rock star. The stage is set for a thoughtful romantic comedy.

THE DARK KNIGHT: In this film Batman, and law enforcement officials, are taking the major criminals off the streets. This has effectively reduced crime, until a new criminal mastermind shows up, and things get a lot worse. Batman is in a battle now, as criminal mastermind, the Joker, has released an overwhelming assault on Gotham City.

TROPIC THUNDER: Filled with great actors the genre of the film is a classic spoof. Things are going bad. To get his super star cast to see the movie be a success, the seemingly bold director into the wild jungle, and leaves them on their own. He hopes to overwhelm them into producing a war classic, which will be caught on hidden cameras in the area. When the director blows up on an old French land mine, the spoiled actors are on there own, and they start acting, thinking it's a big set, but things are getting very, very real. Written, directed, and acted in, by Ben Stiller.

STEP BROTHERS: When two child like older men, who both live at home with one parent, find themselves having to live in the same bedroom because their mom and dad get married, you have one crazy situation. Casting John Reilly and Will Ferrell in those roles, and this seems to be a great recipe for a funny movie. This comedy looks like a sure thing if your looking for some laughs.

MADAGASCAR: ESCAPE 2 AFRICA: This is obviously the next edition to the big hit film Madagascar. The small group of animals desire to return to New York's famous Central Park Zoo, and go back to the lives they know. As opposed to going home, due to the Penguins, they are heading off to have more adventures first.

THE INCREDIBLE HULK: This movie tells the story of Dr. Bruce Banner, who has become the green Hulk. This film is about the marvel comic character the green Hulk. Key cast members are Edward Norton, Tim Roth and Liv Tyler. Louis Leterrier directs this film. The film genre is science fiction.

BOLT: Bolt: This film is an animated comedy. Bolt, is a dog who is an actor, who in his role on television, is a super hero dog. The thing about Bolt is that he honestly believes he is this super hero dog with superpowers. After he is unexpectedly thrown into the real world, he discovers that he is just a dog. On a journey to get back home, he is aided by Rhino and Mittens, his newly found hamster and cat friends.

The chosen setting for the show is a town in Louisiana. This was a very good pick for a show such as True Blood. The voodoo history and look of the area really add to the believability of the show as it is watched. To tie it all in, the cast had to be able to add spice and mystery as well. Anna Paquin is the main character on the show. She plays the role of Sookie Stackhouse herself. Sookie Stackhouse is a waitress in a local restaurant. This is HBO after all! Did you really think they'd make a series with hot chicks and vampires but no naked goodness? Anna ends up in a few steamy scenes with her vampire love interest, Bill. All I know is that Bill is one lucky blood sucker!

When it comes to the hottest of all the women on True Blood, it isnt even a question for me. That designation goes to Lizzy Caplan as she plays the role of Amy Burley. Amy is the druggie lover of Sookies brother Jason Stackhouse. She isnt hooked to regular drugs, she is into V-juice. I know you wonder what that is. Its vampire blood!

Lizzy's character is about as v-juice crazy as they come! The good thing for us viewers is that the drug seems to have an effect similar to that of ecstasy pills times 100. Of course, this leads to a bunch of episodes with Lizzy Caplan in the buff and having these wild love scenes with Ryan Kwanten who plays Jason Stackouse. Obviously, upon checking into the resort, he looks up and sees his ex girlfriend and her new lover, a rock star super stud. This movie has all the ingredients of a classic romantic comedy.

BOLT: Bolt: This movie is a fun animation. Bolt is a dog actor, who plays the role of a dog that is a super hero dog. The thing about Bolt is that he honestly believes he has these powers. When he is accidentally finds himself in a real world situation, he realizes that he is only a normal dog. On a journey to get back home, he is helped by Rhino and Mittens, his newly found hamster and cat friends.

JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH: On a mission to discover what happened to his lost brother, Professor Trevor Anderson sets out on a journey that sends him into the depths of our planet. This is a new version of the original 1959 movie, which was about the classic work by Jules Verne. This sci-fi adventure stars Brendan Fraser, and Anita Briem.

MADAGASCAR: ESCAPE 2 AFRICA: As I'm sure you know, this is the next edition to the box office hit Madagascar. Our cast of lost animals, Alex (Lion), Marty (Zebra), Gloria (Hippo), and Melman (Giraffe) are trying to get back to the Central Park Zoo, from their first adventure. Instead, as the Penguins are up to their old tricks, they are heading off to Africa instead.

THE INCREDIBLE HULK: This feature film tells a story about Dr. Bruce Banner (Edward Norton), who has been transformed into the Hulk. This feature film is about the comic legend, the Hulk. Key cast members are Edward Norton, Tim Roth and Liz Tyler. This film is directed by Louis Leterrier. The film style is sci-fi.

ROLE MODELS: Danny and Wheeler, a couple of energy drink sales people, are facing jail time after destroying the company vehicle while binging. The only way to avoid jail time is to work in community service for 150 hours. The problem is they will need to mentor some kids in a big brother type situation. The stage is set for some good comedy.

STEP BROTHERS: When two children like older men, who each live with their single parents, will now have to live in the same room because their parents have wed, we see that they are bound to have problems. Casting John Reilly and Will Ferrell acting as these two idiots, and this seems to be a great recipe for lots of laughs. This comedy looks like a sure fire bet if your looking for some laughs.

TROPIC THUNDER: Overloaded with good actors we find ourselves watching a classic parody of popular war films. In order to inspire his super star cast to create a quality war film, the seemingly bold director into the wild, leaving them to fend for themselves. His plan is to frighten them so they will produce a work of genius, which hidden cameras will capture. When the director dies unexpectedly by stepping on a real land mine, the actors are now truly on their own, and they think there acting, but the bullets flying are actually real. Stars include Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr., and Tom Cruise.

Chunkin' Punkin's in Idaho

The Morton Pumpkin Festival is a pumpkin festival held in the city of Morton, Illinois. The dates weren't specific back then, but now, the festival has a set date that runs on Wednesday up till Saturday during the middle of September. The city of Morton has earned its name 'the Pumpkin Capital of the World' due to this festival.

The event is a large affair around Morton. Around less than one thousand volunteers handle the food alone. The money earned, of course, will go to the community. The local businesses in the area (whether small enterprise or franchised) help with the volunteers, though they usually go with helping with the breakfast and dinners. It's a hand-in-hand affair when festival time comes.

The main theme of this festival, is of course, the orange-colored gourd, pumpkin. Most of the attendees come here for the pumpkin-themed food. Pumpkin chili, pumpkin juice, pumpkin bread, pumpkin-nickel (that's a joke), pumpkin caramels and shakes, pumpkin ice creams and fudge. Basically, turn everything you can into something pumpkin-y.

The main attraction however, is the Punkin' Chunkin' Contest that was based off a similar event in Lewes, Delaware; the Punkin' Chunkin' Festival. Morton holds the record for the farthest ever flown. The winners are then declared at the end of the day.

Punkin' Chunkin' has a lot of weird, but very innovative ideas. From trebuchets, catapults, air cannons, air guns, centrifugators and etc. The record holder is the Q-36 Pumpkin Modulator, a 100-foot air cannon that had the world record (1,430m).

If you're planning to visit Illinois sometime around September, be sure to drop by the area. The food is enough to keep most tourists and well-wishers preoccupied, and the chunkin' to keep kids (and a lot of the adults) entertained. Tricks that an be used by card Beginner

Simple card Tricks for Beginner

There are many wonderful beginner card tricks for those who have just begun discovering the wonderful world of magic. Some beginner card tricks are little harder than others but you can still do them it just takes a little more dedication.

There is a cool trick where you can easily turn four 10's into four Aces. Although it does call for ruining a deck of cards it is still pretty amazing. You start by getting all of the 10's out of the deck of cards as well as all four of the Aces. You take the Ace and 10 of hearts and a glue stick. Then you glue them back to back. That card is called the "full card". Then you take the other three Aces and the other three 10's and leaving the 10's whole cut all three Aces diagonally. Take the Ace of Spades piece and place it in the appropriate area on top of the 10 of Spades so that it looks like half of an Ace of Spades and half of a 10 of spades. Continue to do that with the remaining Aces and 10s making sure to match them with their appropriate suit.

After that take those prepared cards and display them in your hand so that they are overlapping and showing only matching 10s. Make sure to have the full card as the card that the audience sees at the end of the four cards (the whole one). Then all you have to do is show your audience the 10s in that manner and then collapse them back down into a single deck. All the while you should act as if you are using magic to change them to Aces. Discreetly maneuver the full card and flip it over making sure it stays in the same spot. Also remember to rotate the deck so that the sides with the Aces pieces are the ones on top. Then splay the cards out the same way as you did before and show your audience that you have successfully changed four 10s into four Aces. Presto, an easy beginner card trick that anyone can do.

The only thing that is negative about the whole process is that you have to ruin a deck of cards in order to pull off the trick.

Goodbye Norman Mailer

It's so saddening that Normal Mailer had died already. I found out about it just last Saturday, when I opened my computer for updates. He died at the age of 84, and he was one of my heroes. I decided not to not to use my computer up until the next day. I thought that all my heroes are leaving, one after another.

Norman and I didn't agree on many issues, but I think that still doesn't matter. He was one of those rare people who aren't afraid to write on what they want to write. He was fearless.

I spent part of Saturday trying to remember when I first heard the name, and when I read my first Mailer book. The book was "The Naked and theDead," written in 1948. I'm fairly certain I read it in 1969, when I was 16 or so.

I enjoyed reading his first book that I even anticipated for his upcoming new publications. I believe I have read every one of them. Whenever he would appear on television, I would usually sit back and watch him on TV. He was a very interesting person indeed, and that makes him rather different among other writers, and personalities on TV.

I'm pretty sure that I had last seen him on Charlie Rose, and a show that I can't remember at this point. He had a small hearing problem, but he had high spirits. It so saddening that his appearance was just too short.

I am one of the people who disapproved of his politics, but I learned to forgive him eventually. The liberals were just too different compared to Norman Mailer. He stood firm for his beliefs.

There were also instances when Mailer was savaged by the New York publications and critics. But he didn't care two hoots in hell. They just kept writing and speaking against him.

I enjoyed his last book, The Castle In The Forest, and he had plans for a trilogy of the work on Hitler.

The moment I knew that Norman Mailer would appear in Charlie Rose, I became excited.

The very day he died it was when I felt a heavy disappointment. There would be no trilogy, another hero long gone.

By Sunday, I got better. Norman Mailer was one of those few people that would defend the right to protect yourself. He had known enough about the idiot people in his chosen party. I guess he couldn't build up any respect for any of them. Norman Mailer knew all along that they had no courage to fight at all.

Because he could write fearlessly, they couldn't

He was a real man and a brave man. He was Norman Mailer, one of the very few.

I imagine the dialogue in heaven is going to be a lot richer from now on.

So, I guess, if God needs somebody to keep Him on his toes, Norman Mailer would be up for the job. - 21704

Computers are faster and more reliable than ever before and with these technology advancements it has opened up the door to use software and musical instruments in conjunction with this new found power. With new products coming out everyday it has never been harder to determine if a computer setup may work for you as a digital keyboard. We will look at how expensive a workstation setup compared to the software route will add up when trying to not break the bank account. Also, how portable is a computer setup and is it expandable? When you complete the reading of this article you should know exactly which way you want to invest your hard earned money.

All musical instruments in one way or another seem to be showing up in a digital format these days and the piano has been at the forefront of this digital age with the use of a keyboard for longer than any. The major advancements in this technology came in the 60's with the great Moog synthesizers came on the market. While these were still analog, the achievements made paved the way for digital keyboards in the decades to come. In today's market the question is not about digital versus analog but whether or not a piece of computer software can hold up against the more familiar workstations.

So that leaves us with the current set of choices that seem to be most prevalent among new keyboard purchasers. Do you buy the all in one workstation which would be considered the more traditional route or do you go the newer computer/software road. There are many things to consider before making your choice and hopefully I will be able to shed some new light on which one is right for you. First things first lets see what makes up each keyboard setup. For the workstation its simply the keyboard along with any accessories you would want to include, but for the most part everything you need is built into the synthesizer. Things are a bit more difficult for using software. Your brains of the operation will be a computer so if you want this to be portable then you will have to use a laptop.

After the computer, a sound card will be needed in order process the digital signal. You can try using what is already built in to your computer but the latency will probably to much to overcome. There are many way to go when purchasing a sound card but buying an external card will save in setup costs unless you are comfortable with installing it yourself. We will also need a midi keyboard controller and the software package that you prefer. Once you have that then you have a solid software setup ready for use.

As you can see deciding to use software can be mind blowing to setup correctly. Then why even consider this as a viable option? With experience using both methods I can easily say that software offers a much higher quality of sounds and can be expanded on overtime. With the purchase of the audio-card you now have the ability to turn your computer into a home studio. One way to go is to buy an M-box audio-card by Pro-Tools which would also come with Pro-Tools recording software. This would allow to record with high end software and could also be used in a live setting as well.

When decision time comes, does setup time and portability weigh heavier than the quality of sounds and limitless extensibility? You also have to consider that the software solution adds a home studio into the equation for no extra cost. To be fair, workstations do have the capability to do some simple recordings but it is not something you could really take advantage of in a band situation. I don't know about you but I like the idea of doing some full demos as well.

Some great soft synths to start out on would be anything by Native Instruments. Another favorite of many are the libraries made by East West. They will record in various concert halls, using the best microphones available and create small wav files from popular string or woodwind instruments. With a simple midi keyboard you can control each sound and build an entire orchestral piece that would be impossible to do with just a workstation.

In conclusion let's discuss the pricing of each setup. First is this going to be used for live gigs or just home use. If you do plan to take it on the road then do you have a laptop? If you do not then you have to add the purchase of one into the final price. Good workstations can cost between one to four thousand dollars but they will usually have better playability than most midi controllers. If a laptop purchase is not required then it is probably a safe bet that a software solution will be cheaper.

If you total up the price of a keyboard controller, sound-card, and software you will probably be well under a thousand dollars on your total purchase. You do have to consider that some software can be very expensive and how many different pieces you decide to get is what will really determine what your completed price will be. With many of the Bars out east closed down for the Winter finding a place was not easy. After speaking with Bob the owner of CB's Bar and Grill (cbsbarandgrill.net)214 West Montauk Hwy in Hampton Bays the Mortal Skulls MC knew they had found a good spot for the 2008 Winter Bar-B-Q!

The Bar-B-Q was held on Sunday January 13Th from Noon till 6pm and over 130 Bikers came out for a Winter day of Summer time fun! The event had everything a Summer time Biker Bar-B-Q should have Plenty of Sun Shine, Burgers and Hot Dogs, great Music,Raffles,Hot Bikini Girls provided by Marie at LIExotics.com and of course lots of Bikers!

With the great weather many chose to Ride out and the parking lot was full of Motorcycles. The Mortal Skulls MC thanked the owners and Staff at CB's Bar and Grill for all their help and Hospitality, The Bikini Girls from LI Exotics, The Numerous Motorcycle Clubs, Friends and Supporters who came out to help make this one of their best events ever! On an electric guitar, there will be between one and three electronic pickups there (no hole). Both of these have the same function, which is to transfer sound and make what you play audible.

4. The neck. This is sticking out to your left there and is about 2 ? feet long. Necks are made of different types of materials. Most common are rosewood and basswood. Higher quality guitars can use mahogany here.

5. The frets. These are the little metal bars running across the neck. The nearer they are to the body, the closer they are together. These make the different tones possible and your fingers will be placed just behind them.

6. The nut. This is where the neck joins the headstock. It is a hard nylon and has grooves that act as guides for the strings.

7. The headstock and tuning keys. This is the uppermost part of the guitar and has the tuning keys attached to it. The strings will be held by the tailpiece and then threaded through the tuning keys and pulled tight to be tuned. The tuning keys can be anything from plastic to gold.

Performers at the event include taarab artists, bongo flava (a very popular East African music genre)stars, drumming troupes, and ngoma dancers.

In Zanzibar Island's recent efforts to market itself as a global cultural tourism destination, Sauti za Busara is one of the key highlights. THE CHRONICALS OF NARNIA, PRINCE CASPIAN: Just one year has passed in "real" time, when Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy are mysteriously pulled back into Narnia. Prince Caspian has blown Susan's magic horn, praying that he will be saved. In their one year at home, centuries have passed in Narnia, but they have been called back to rescue Narnia from an evil fate. Eventually when Eve is recovered by the craft that sent her, Wall-E sneaks aboard, and thus starts the adventure of his robot life.

THE DARK KNIGHT: Batman, and Lt. Gordon and D.A. Harvey Dent, are on a mission to clean up Gotham City. Crime is now down, that is until the Joker shows up, and attacks the city. Batman has his work cut out him now, as criminal mastermind, the Joker, has released an overwhelming assault on Gotham City.

WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS: Wild and crazy nights in Las Vegas are normal. Young partiers Joy and Jack wake up to discover that they are married. When they win a $3 million jackpot, there is a debate on who gets the money, so they ask a judge for a decision. The strange ruling is that they must stay together for six months, and try to make their marriage work. With an eye on the jackpot, they conspire to make each other quit the marriage, as they are both determined to wind up with all the money.

TWENTY ONE: Twenty One basically recounts an amazing true story about M.I.T. students who formed a winning formula to beat blackjack. These wiz kids learned to beat the game, and then performed an assault on the casinos. To play in Las Vegas, where players can be banned for winning with card counting skills, they devised signals, disguises, and even fake drivers licenses, to keep from being banned. Twenty One is based on the book that explains how these kids took it to the casinos.

This new company specializes in floral arrangements designed to catch liars in their tracks. Their security camera systems are carefully hidden in bouquets of roses, daisies, lilies, tulips and sunflowers. These cost from $100 to $10,000.

"No Sympathy Inc is an Internet company specializing in security camera systems determined to catch cough-faking employees at their worst. The twist on their product: security camera systems come in the form of sympathy flowers. Video and audio recording, digital relays, temperature taking flying robots and skin swabs are the tip of this liar-catching industry," according to Chloe McIntyre in Nonsense News.

Mind you the cameras aren't easy to detect. CEO James Black said not even Bond's faithful gadget maker Q could offer the same technology.

Insurance Woes

With all the joys that come in having children, the silver lining is, of course, dealing with the insurance company. After having a premature baby, we hoped our last concern would be how to pay for his care. instead many quite hilarious situations have entailed in our insurance dealings.

My son had to be quickly taken to another hospital when he was born that had an equipped NICU, and the bill to make this little drive was the first to arrive. The insurance had denied payment on this $1,000 because they didn't see it as a medical necessity. The only thing I could think of was that they expected us to try and plug the incubator in our car's cigarette lighter. We wrote an appeal, that has now made it covered.

Since we are students on the university plan, we are required to first see our on campus health center for all our doctor's needs. My son was born in a different state, and so it really wasn't an option to go to their health center. Perhaps we could have flown our son to the health center for all his many doctor's appointments, but even that would have been more expensive than the doctor's bills we now have to pay out of pocket for because he wasn't treated at the health center.

His immunizations, for example, he received from a pediatrician's office. After the fact, we were told that because of this they would not be covered. Since we now are back at school and can go to the health center, I took my son there for his six month shots. Wouldn't you know that they don't offer his shots at the health center on campus?

So, the insurance company obviously writes their policies without ever communicating with the health center. We are held responsible for not going to the health center for services that they don't even offer. Is this as funny to you and it is to me? Good.

Another conundrum follows a pretty substantial bill we received from the Neonatal doctor's office that saw my son daily in the NICU at the hospital. We talked with the insurance when this first happened and they assured us that the hospital was covered and would be no problem. So why did we get a bill for the doctor that treated him there?

It seems that the doctors that worked in the hospital weren't covered, even though the hospital is covered. I forgot that it wasn't important to see a doctor while you were in the hospital and should have opted for my son to not be seen by them. What's the point of going to the hospital without seeing a doctor? I don't see how this works.

It is also being appealed on account of the policy making no sense, along with the complete lack of control we had in the doctors seeing our son anyway. My son went to the hospital while I was still in the hospital myself. Then they put a safety device on his ankle that prohibits anyone from taking him even as far as the elevator without being arrested. Plus who would say, please don't take care of my three pound son that can't even breath by himself because there's a chance the insurance won't cover it.

I envision a man in the dark corners of the insurance building who has never set foot in a doctor's office, that is hired for his ability to write complex and contradicting policies. In fact, the employees themselves must devoid of any medical need or else they would be blatantly aware of their flaws themselves. I'm not surprised that so many candidates used it as a topic of debate in our last election.

Believe it or not, there are people we found within the insurance company with a knowledge of their flaws and a desire to help. So, when you do finally meet these people, it would be wise to ask them if they could personally assist you in all your further claims. Maybe if it feels appropriate, even get their email and extension so you can get directly to them without wasting time with the call center ignoramuses that got the job because they can read a prompt. That is the mostly useful advice I can give.

Remember that you are a client with rights, and you can question or appeal anything that you see going on that doesn't seem right. Contacting the insurance company before you pay the bills when they come will prevent overpaying bills that the insurance may still be working on. Doctor's offices also sometimes will continue charging you the full bill even after the insurance has made deals with them for a lower price, and you should be aware is this is happening. Even writing down conversations you have with the insurance will benefit if any miscommunications arise, so you can verify what you were told.

In reality these are just people doing a job, and it might help them if we show them how they can improve. It is just a fact that dealing with the insurance is part of getting healthcare. The only way to avoid it, well, don't get sick. - 21704
